1) There is a great significance and uniqueness to this title in my opinion. Most songs' titles are about about the song or words repeated many times within the song, but this song is a little different. The the first thing I noticed was "All the Small Things" is the first line of the song. Then I noticed it was only used once in the entire song. This is exactly like a poem because when there is no title in a poem, they use the first line or first few words.
2a) I think the author is trying to convey that the little things in life matter the most. It could be from little pleasures in life, to doing small things for people. The little things in life can keep you motivated and encourage you throughout your day. Sometimes the little things people do for each other mean as much as big things. Doing things like "inside gifts" that only you and the receiver of the gift would understand is a great example of little things that cheer people up and make them happy.
2b) The lyrics in the song really support the overall message. "She left me roses by the stairs, surprises let me know she cares" is a great example of little gifts that people really enjoy in life. Also, "I know you'll always be at my show, watching, waiting commiserating" is another small thing you can do for someone to let them know you care just by showing up to watch them perform. The roses and showing up to all his performances both symbolize that she supports him and the work he is doing. In my mind, "I'll be your thrill, the night will go on, my little wind mill", is saying that all they need is each other, and they keep each other going and motivated.
3) There are a few reasons and examples that make this song poetry. First, the title is the first line of the song. There are also a few rhyme schemes in the song that are used in poetry. There are a few AABB's and some AABA's, but don't follow a specific pattern that I can see.
Blink 182 - All the Small Things
All the, small things
True care, truth brings
I'll take, one lift
Your ride, best trip
Always, I know
You'll be at my show
Watching, waiting
Commiserating
Say it ain't so
I will not go
Turn the lights off
Carry me home
Na, na, na
Late night, come home
Work sucks, I know
She left me roses by the stairs
Surprises let me know she cares
Say it ain't so
I will not go
Turn the lights off
Carry me home
Na, na, na
Say it ain't so
I will not go
Turn the lights off
Carry me home
Keep your head still
I'll be your thrill
The night will go on
My little windmill
Say it ain't so
I will not go
Turn the lights off
Carry me home
Keep your head still
I'll be your thrill
The night will go on
My little windmill
